Jim Thompson was an OSS officer who stayed in Thailand after WWII. He is credited for reviving the silk industry here.... His silks were even used as the costumes for the movie The King and I. His gorgeous teak house is one of the big attractions in the city, where you can see how the silk is made and of course hit the gift shop.
