One of our favorite eating spots is Eathai. Similar to Batali's Eataly in Manhattan it has food stalls representing the various regions and cuisines in Thailand. A great place to get all your favorites in one spot.

My favorite temple in Bangkok is Wat Pho, which is best known for a giant gold reclining Buddha. But I love the grounds and the fact it's possible to find some quiet spots if you're lucky.

One of my favorite street foods is roti stuffed with banana and egg, drizzled with condensed milk. I discovered it a few years ago; and there's actually an adapted receipe on here some where. It's close but nothing beats the real thing!

My Wednesday picture appears to be missing so here it is.... A stop at my favorite ice cream parlor for caramel pop corn and banofee pie. In a waffle cone of course because nothing ensures happiness like an ice cream cone!

After a couple days of heavy rain the weather is much more pleasant. I came across this sculpture as I was walking to lunch.

I don't know what these trees are... They're sort of a yellow wisteria. But they remind me off the forsythia trees in front of my grandparents house when I was growing up.

This guy is on our street every Sunday selling coconuts out of the back of his truck. My favorite post workout splurge. Delicious and a fraction of what they charge for the bottled pasteurized stuff. Plus you get to scoop out the insides!

Nutella stuffed french toast. If you can think of a better way to start the day I'd like to hear it.

Fridays mean delivery from the farm co-op. Today it's mixed lettuce, spinach, mini cucumbers, tomatoes and carrots. Bananas, watermelon, and rose apple. Yogurts, labneh, feta, and a loaf of sundried tomato sourdough. Delivered to the door in a neat little box.

18 and 19 March 2015
I'm cheating a bit but it's two photos taken on the walk up to the temple of the golden mount, the highest point in Bangkok.

We've got a couple of 99 degree days ahead this week and the humidity is now such that it's not really prudent to exercise outside anymore. Fortunately the view from my gym makes the treadmill less boring than it could be.

Walking down the street we came across this giant cage built in the side of a building filled with rabbits, at least 20 of them. Now I realize they are likely a food source, but they were just too darn cute!

One of the things that fascinates me about travel is seeing the relative abundance or scarcity of something and the value placed on it as a result. This photo features a planter of orchids, and these planters cover the entire surrounding wall of the building. At home, orchids are considered rare and expensive; here they are considered no more interesting than daisies and you can buy bouquets of them in the super market for less than $2.

I just realized I forgot to take a picture today! So I'm going to cheat on two accounts... This was taken by my husband. Bangkok has a lot of street dogs, but this guy is our favorite. A couple weeks ago he started hanging out in a new spot to visit another dog. But he hasn't been the last few days so maybe they broke up. Drama.

A favorite tucked away spot... As the name might suggest they specialize in crepes, but the menu is fantastic and hands down the best brunch I've had. If you come for a visit, be assures we will be taking you here!

I call this guy George. He's one of the monitor lizards that lives on the grounds. In the morning he wanders around but in the afternoons he likes to take a dip in the pond. He's rumored to have eaten a cat, which seems likely given the size of him. I think he's kind of cute.

One of the things I love about Bangkok is that you can find hidden beauty in unexpected places. Some of the streets start off seedy close to the main roads but as you make your way down become surprising pleasant. This is a small boutique villa at the end of the street with an excellent vegetarian restaurant and spa that is surrounded by gardens. This is the spa entrance and I just loved the ambiance.

A day spent by the lake. Husband is quite the gifted wake boarder. I contented myself with a book, some shade, and the occasional dip.

Today's picture is admittedly the runner up. My attempts at mindfulness failed me until it was too late to capture the elderly Thai woman wearing a t-shirt declaring "I love Jorts". And in the event you were wondering if she really meant Jorts... It featured a visual depiction of Jorts to eliminate potential confusion. But alas I was not aware it was happening until it was too late. So until then please rest secure in the knowledge that even Thailand cannot escape Food Truck Fridays.

I see this sign every morning when I get off the train. Yes, it's technically an ad for plastic surgery. But I still find it motivational. Some days I do a better job than others, but it's always an important question to ask yourself.
